Finger sizing and resizing questions

Can I order a ring in any international finger size?
Yes, you can order a ring in Australian sizes (alphabetical) or American sizes (numerical). For British finger sizes and European finger sizes please refer to our finger size table to convert the international size into an Australian or American size.

How do I determine my finger size?
When placing an order for a ring, you will be required to select your ring size. Please click on the link below to view the finger size scale.

What is the best method for measuring my finger size?
We suggest having your finger measured by a local jeweler or alternatively use a piece of paper or string to measure the finger size. However we recommend visiting a local jeweler because if a piece of string or paper is used, it does not accurately measure how the ring will move over the knuckle and does not take into account different ring widths.

What happens if I order the wrong finger size?
If you order the wrong ring size, please contact us to discuss the situation. The ring may be resized or in some cases you may be able to return the ring and have a new one made for a small re-make fee.

Are you rings all one size or can they be resized?
We are more than about at GoldeNet Australia to provide you with a ring in your actual size, therefore if we have your chosen ring in stock, if possible - depending on the design, we will resize it for you, otherwise we will manufacture a new ring for you in your size. If you do order the wrong finger size, you can contact us and discuss your options. The ring may be resized or in some cases you may be able to return the ring to us and have a new one made for a small re-make fee.

Does resizing leave a visible mark on the ring?
We use the existing join in the ring for the resize and then we finely polish the ring leaving the join invisible.

Gold and metal questions

What is 9ct or 9k Gold?
Karat represents the amount of pure gold in the alloy, 9k is 37.5% pure gold. GoldeNet Australia uses only 14ct or 18ct gold, which is more pure then 9 ct.

What is the difference between 18k and 9k gold?
18 carat gold is more pure than 9 carat gold. It contains a higher percentage of gold. Pure gold is 24 carat, thus 18 carat gold is 75% pure. Visit our Education Centre for a complete discussion on gold and other jewellery terminology.

What is the difference between white gold and platinum?
White gold and platinum have their own properties which make them unique. White gold is an alloy of gold and a few white metals like silver and palladium. White gold can be come in any carat. For example 18ct white gold is comprised of 75% gold and 25% other metals like silver and palladium, while 18ct yellow gold is comprised of 75% gold and 25% other metals like copper and zinc. White gold are also coated with another white metal called Rhodium. Rhodium is a very similar metal to platinum, both share many of the same properties including the white colour.
Platinum is a white metal, and is used in jewellery in almost its pure form. Platinum is extremely durable and long wearing. Platinum is also white in colour thus unlike white gold it does not need to be rhodium plated. Platinum is a heavier metal then gold and is also more expensive, a platinum ring will be roughly twice the price as a gold ring.

What is the best way to care for and clean a diamond?
Below are a few general guidelines for caring for your brand new GoldeNet diamonds:

Avoid wearing your diamonds while performing housework, working in the garden or any type of rough work with your hands. Diamonds are extremely durable; however a hard strike could chip it. Also, avoid contact with chlorine bleach.

Clean your diamond in a bowl of warm, sudsy water with a small amount of any mild liquid detergent. Brush the pieces with a soft brush, move the piece to a metal strainer like instrument and rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth.
